After a week away in a caravan in Cornwall, I’m back on the radio with this weeks Late Night Funk! This time we play some rare grooves from Gordon Staples, Rare Cuts and Wilson Picket. Also listen out for a lesser know track by disco band Odyssey. However my favourite tune in this episode has to be, Carrie Lucas – Dance With You. So much energy and a really funky baseline I love the feel of this track. Also, you might recognise a sample from this track made more recently famous by Armand Van Helden.
I’m in the process of developing new ideas for the show, I’m very keen to create more listener interaction! After all that’s the beauty of live radio, being able to create a conversation with listeners. So with this in mind, I asked a ‘question of the week’ thanks for all the responses, I’ll be expanding on this idea in future episodes.
Being away with the family on the first week that self catering accommodation was allowed to open, was very special. We stayed in Holywell Bay near Newquay. This place is seriously stunning, sand dunes as tall as mountains and beaches as vast as the eye can see. Staycations aren’t a new thing for our family, we have a camper van (called Gayle), and being based in Plymouth means access to Cornwall, North Devon and the South Hams couldn’t be easier. By the way these locations are some of the most beautiful that the U.K. has to offer.
Thanks to all the lovely Cornish folk who welcomed us with open arms, at a two metre distance obviously!! Some of our top days out included Lapper Valley, Porth Beach and the amazing ice cream parlour at Callestick.
